Books

These are books that have been recommended to me, or that I have found on my own which have also been of use:

    Non-Fiction
  • Drawing Down the Moon - Margot Adler - An overview of the Pagan culture in North America.
  • The Practice of Witchcraft - Robin Skelton - Questions and answers, and sample rituals, spells and so on, provide an introduction to Wicca.
  • Power of the Witch - Laurie Cabot - Another introductory book on modern witchcraft.
  • Celebrate the Earth - Laurie Cabot - Explanations and suggestions for celebrating the Pagan holidays.
  • Witches - Erica Jong and Joseph A. Smith - A wonderfully illustrated coffee-table size book which looks at both the history and the folklore of witches, with connections to witchcraft and feminism today.
    Fiction
  • Amazon - Barbara G. Walker - This novel tells the story of Antiope, an ancient warrior who is somehow transported to the twentieth century, and helps to reintroduce the religion of the Goddess to modern women.
  • The Mists of Avalon - Marion Zimmer Bradley - The legend of King Arthur, as seen by the women who surrounded him, most specifically his half-sister Morgaine, who is trying to preserve the old religion in Britain.
  • Sword and Sorceress - Marion Zimmer Bradley, editor - A series of fantasy anthologies focusing on women. Many famous and not-so-famous authors are featured in these collections, which include stories drawing on many different mythological traditions.
